3 Simple Steps to Increased Productivity

Getting a lot of tasks done within a short period of time is a great accomplishment, especially these days when distractions are almost everywhere. It is important to be productive if you want to be successful in your life + business. Being productive means using your time wisely and leaving you with enough free time to do the things that you really love, such as spending time with your loved ones or learning some new hobbies.

There are 3 simple steps to increased productivity that you should remember. Check out the next few paragraphs.

         1.   Organize everything.

If you want to be productive, it is important to keep everything organized. In your workplace, be sure to de-clutter your desk to make it easier for you to find the things that you are looking for. Moreover, it is easier to work in a space that is neat and tidy. It is also important to arrange your furniture and things in such a way that will make you more productive. For example, try changing the position of your desk if you always have to go around it whenever you need to reach for folders and documents in the file cabinet. Your schedule is another important thing that you need to organize. Allot enough time for each task that you need to do and be sure to follow your schedule strictly.

        2.   List down your goals.

Writing down your goals will serve as a reminder of the things that you need to do. The goals should be realistic. Setting unrealistic goals will only make you frustrated, disappointed, and discouraged. You should also set a realistic timeframe for your goals. One example of a realistic goal is to write a 2-page report within 1 to 2 hours. And no matter what happens, be sure to finish the report within your specified time allotment. You should have a short term that will help you achieve your long term goals, like producing 10 quality reports in a month to be able to get a promotion.

       3.   Reward yourself.

Being productive is no easy feat. In everything that you do, you have to fight distractions and temptations that will keep you from finishing your tasks. This is why it is important to reward yourself after every important task that you have finished. Your reward can be as simple as a 30-minute break or as grand as a week-long vacation, depending on the kind of task that you have finished.
