There is a difference!
Actuality, people that don’t recognize the difference in there first year of creating there business will actually suffer this loss until they realize the difference. Let me paint a picture, lets say you go out one afternoon to the local Staples and purchase a new computer and some software to start your new business. You get home with your new computer and software and you are all excited, as well you should be; you have taken the first step in starting your new business.
Your excitement continues to grow day after day until you are so absorbed it actually starts to consume you. Before long you are so consumed by it that you forget your normal, daily life. Your better half calls you for dinner and you exclaim, “just a minute sweetie”, before long 3 hours have passed and dinner is long past done. As days turn to weeks and weeks into months your family, and friends start to feel neglected. Of course, they would never admit this but its true.
Once they reach there breaking point they finally muster up the strength to talk to you. They ask “How’s the business going?” Of course you answer, “GREAT, couldn’t be better”. The next question they ask is “So how much money have you made?”, Well this immediately KNOCKS DOWN your entrepreneurial spirit as you haven’t yet made any money. You swallow your pride and say something like “Well, I haven’t made any yet but I have a few things in the works that have some potential to bring in some bucks.”
Now, regardless of whether you had something in the works or not you now have this cloud hanging over your head. You have just set an almost if not impossible goal for yourself. You now think you must prove to your spouse and or friends that you are indeed not a failure and go to them with cash in hand.
This is a fatal mistake as NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. Making money and building a business are two different things, especially when you are first starting out.
Think about it, when a large corporation buys out another large corporation the first few years actually end in a loss. But by the third year they actually make more money together then the two corporations die when they were apart. The money they made in the third year well over powered the money the lost in the first two, this is called investing. And this is one of the key ingredients to building your business.
Investing money is not the only way to make your business prosper. You can also invest hard work and sacrifice in order to grow your business. So, if you don’t have money to invest into your business that’s ok, hard WORK, dedication will do the trick. Many prosperous businesses were built on the sweat and hard work of there owners.
Basically, what it all comes down to you is you are either building your business or you are making money, they are not the same thing. You cannot have your cake and eat it too, that’s just not the way it works. Hard work, dedication and investing will grow your business long term. I know, I know, not what you want to hear but its true. I have done my job, the choice is yours to make. I have exposed the truth to you and I hope you accept it as fact.

hey, I’m Kim + I am ridiculously passionate about helping you to work smarter and not harder + to realize how freaking amazing you actually are, exactly as you are and how easy business really can be when you are in alignment + simplify + add systems to organize your business + plan your business growth. I’ve been geeking out about online business, online marketing + systems + personal development + all that stuff since I created my first business back in 2006 + sold it.
This whole business owner thing is not for the faint of heart, there is a reason why most businesses fail!
While the road to burnout doesn’t look the same for everyone on it there are some similarities you typically experience on this path!
You’re always in the weeds of your business
You don’t have efficient systems and processes (or maybe none at all)
You aren’t delegating effectively
You can’t take time off
You’re trying to do too many things at once + wearing all the hats
It’s exhausting just thinking about it! But there’s a way off the hamster wheel!
If you’re overwhelmed, overworked, stressed out, and worried that if you take time off the bottom will fall out from beneath you and your business will fall apart.
Then, you are in the right place my friend, been there, done that, got the tee-shirt and I’d love to support you in ending the cycle!
