In this blog, we are going to talk about a mindset hack to help you stay motivated in your online business and reach your business goals. It’s way too easy to lose momentum and never reach your business goals when you work online that it is important to learn to keep yourself motivated.
Motivating yourself to excel should not be something you do only when the spirit moves you and you realize it’s the end of the month and you won’t reach your business goals unless you hustle. Only me that used to do that?
In fact, if you want to reach your business goals it needs to be an ongoing process that should include every facet of your business life. This means your mental attitude, physical well-being and appearance, work atmosphere, your interaction with others (clients, customers, social media alike), and your off business environment.
Motivational experts get paid big bucks to tell professionals, striving for success, that they must constantly examine these factors. How do you do that? Follow the 5 tips that follow to help you reach your business goals, and watch the changes that will occur and help you reach your business goals with more ease.
1. Maintain a Positive Attitude
Let’s realize that life is only 10% of what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.
It took me a long while to get this, well, to really get it, it’s funny because I actually used to just operate this way and then somewhere along the line I started to feel bad for myself or whatever and went through this phase of let’s just say a really bad attitude but now I know, and I know that I know and the truth is attitude is everything.
Your perspective is everything, you can shift anything and everything and when you can look at everything, and yes, I do mean everything, and yes, I get that sometimes, way easier said than done, but yes, everything, everything also changes.
Here’s the thing, we do not see things as they are, we see things as we are. Period.
We’re responsible for our own actions and attitudes, and changing them when appropriate. In fact, you are the only one that can change it. Even when people do shit things to you, I know, I have had my fair share of this, but here’s the thing, you can wallow in it or you can take responsibility and change it.
You cannot change anything you are unwilling to take responsibility for. That is not to say that you are responsible for others act or treat you and stuff that happened to you when you were a kid that was out of your control, no, that is to say, that you are responsible for how you deal with it, the attitude you take on and move on from it.
The more you do this, the more you will be in positive energy and the more your life will change for the positive and that kind of stuff will fall to the side. 🙂
This is a hot button subject and one that cannot easily be covered in the course of one or two blog posts, which is why it is an entire training module in my online course Discover Your Prosperity.
If you are ready to take responsibility for your life and the outcomes and stop the self-sabotage and self-imposed limitations of your past I invite you to check it out, it’s a game-changer.
When you’re around people/things that are uplifting and positive, you feel that way. You have more confidence in yourself and know you can change whatever needs changing. If you can make your work environment no matter where it is such a place you’ll be way happier and you’ll increase your business productivity too.
2. Leave Personal Troubles Where They Belong
Let’s face it, we all have problems that we deal with but when you work at home, it can be even more challenging to leave your troubles out of your work.
Setting working hours, and a dedicated place to do your work and reach your business goals is key to helping you to turn off the home switch and turn on the business switch.
This way when you are in your office or wherever you work in your home in your online business you know, it’s time to turn off those troubles and focus on those business goals instead.
Turn your attention and energy entirely to your business goals + tasks. And as an added benefit you’ll get a mental break from your troubles and might even be able to come up with creative solutions since you won’t actively be being consumed by them. 🙂
3. Create Positive Affirmations for Your Business Goals
You likely already write down your business goals, right? If not, I highly suggest you start, and if you can use pen and paper instead of your computer, even better, I find it way more powerful to reaching my business goals + life goals for that matter too!
Anyway, the reason for writing down your business goals is the same as creating positive affirmations on paper. What your eyes see and ears hear, your mind will believe. It’s a great, easy way to “trick” yourself so speak.
Give it a try and see how it works for you too! After you’ve written down your positive affirmations, read them aloud to yourself – and do it every morning when you get into work mode.
Bonus tip: If you can read them in the mirror and make eye contact with yourself while doing it, it’s even more powerful!
You’ll be amazed at what happens. Come up with a set of new ones every month. Statements such as, “I’m an important and valuable person,” or “I know I’ll make good use of my time today.” Repeating them out loud every day at a set time will help reinforce positive actions + help you reach those business goals sooner rather than later!

4. Make Sure Break Times Are Really Break Times
This is an area where most entrepreneurs fall down. You become so intense about the project or situation you’re working on that you don’t ease up. Thinking that it’ll be solved in the next few seconds, and then you’ll get a cup of coffee and take a break and the next thing you know it’s quitting time.
I know that personally, I can really be guilty of this more times than I care to admit, honestly.
Regularly adhering to a specified break schedule, even if you’re the boss, releases the tension and it helps you be more productive to reach those business goals too!
If you work on a computer, and I’m guessing you do since you have an online business this is even a greater problem because before you realize it – you’ve been working in that same position for hours.
I find that if I set a timer, even for 20 minutes at a time, I am at least staying conscious of how long I am working on something. Plus, the less time you give yourself to do something the faster you tend to get it done. It’s a great productivity hack to reach your business goals actually, and that’s because it actually works. 🙂
At the very least, set yourself a reminder on your appointment calendar for every 2 hours and let the computer reminder chime send you the alert to get up and move around.
5. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise to help you reach your business goals + stay motivated!
I know that lately, it seems that “exercise” is the cure-all to every physical ailment or your love life, but despite that, there is some truth to it too. By “exercise” I don’t mean that you should go out and join a gym and spend your lunch-time, 3-days-a-week there working out.
What is really beneficial and workable is that at those chiming alerts from your computer, get up and walk around your desk or room or house, it doesn’t have to take long.
Sometimes, I’ll take a stroll upstairs to my kid’s room and then back down, just to get a change of scenery and the juices flowing again.
Maybe go outside and get the mail and enjoy the sunlight (if you’re an entrepreneur that has a home office), or just get up and do a few stretches. Concentrated, tense thinking – typing – planning – or whatever you’re working on to reach those business goals, make all those muscles tighten up and knot up.
Then when we move we “ooh” and “ouch” because we’ve knotted up into a ball of tension.
Periodic stretching, even at our desk, or just getting up and walking over to the window and getting a different view can help. One of the greatest disservice modern business décor has done to us is making our offices pristine, sleek, unencumbered spaces.
There is nothing more relaxing than getting up from your desk and walking over to a peaceful, serene, seascape or pastoral painting and just drinking it in visually, that’s why I painted my office to match the beach, so I can enJoy it! 🙂 Momentarily transporting your mind out of work and into that place does wonders.
It only takes a little-concentrated effort on your part to keep motivated and productive, which leads to success towards those business goals.

hey, I’m Kim + I am ridiculously passionate about helping you to work smarter and not harder + to realize how freaking amazing you actually are, exactly as you are and how easy business really can be when you are in alignment + simplify + add systems to organize your business + plan your business growth. I’ve been geeking out about online business, online marketing + systems + personal development + all that stuff since I created my first business back in 2006 + sold it.
This whole business owner thing is not for the faint of heart, there is a reason why most businesses fail!
While the road to burnout doesn’t look the same for everyone on it there are some similarities you typically experience on this path!
- You’re always in the weeds of your business
- You don’t have efficient systems and processes (or maybe none at all)
- You aren’t delegating effectively
- You can’t take time off
- You’re trying to do too many things at once + wearing all the hats
It’s exhausting just thinking about it! But there’s a way off the hamster wheel!
If you’re overwhelmed, overworked, stressed out, and worried that if you take time off the bottom will fall out from beneath you and your business will fall apart.
Then, you are in the right place my friend, been there, done that, got the tee-shirt and I’d love to support you in ending the cycle!
